Muscat: Hamed Al Rumhy overcame a stiff competition in a field of 130 golfers to lift the title at the second OHI Open Golf tournament organised by OHI Group of Companies at the Ghala Golf Club recently.
Hamed held his nerve in a tense playoff to become the 2015 OHI golf champion with a gross overall score of 79.
The runners-up were Ali Hameed and Tenzin Tsarong.
S. J. Prakash emerged the best overall net winner after carding a score of 65.
Dr Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, the Minister of Oil and Gas, and Maqbool Hameed Al Saleh, Chairman of OHI Group of Companies, handed over the OHI Open revolving trophy to the champion during an impressive prize-giving ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion Maqbool Hameed said: “As expected the second edition of the tournament was indeed a grand success. It was very well received by the golfing enthusiasts in Oman and once again the venue provided a great backdrop for an exciting tournament.
“Ghala Golf Club was the perfect venue for the tournament. I would like to congratulate the tournament champion and other winners as well as the participants for their sportsmanship and competitiveness. It goes without saying that the success of the tournament was also due to the good spirit of the support partners, the Ghala Golf Club and our team at OHI.”
